No Bake Keto Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars are a no-bake dessert bar made with superfine almond flour, butter, Swerve, creamy peanut butter, vanilla extract, and sugar-free chocolate chips. It’s no bake and works well for a keto, low-carb, low-sugar treat when you want a quick “fat bomb”-style dessert. Unlike traditional peanut butter chocolate bars that rely on sugar and graham-cracker crumbs, this version keeps it keto with almond flour and sugar-free chocolate, and tastes like Reese’s peanut butter cups.

Why I Made These Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
Every Halloween, my kids know that once they were done trick or treating, they had to sit down and take out at least half the Peanut Butter Cups they had–because those were clearly meant for me.
The thing is, keto Halloween candy is so difficult to get! So you’ll have to make your own.
Fortunately for me, I’m not the only peanut butter and chocolate addict who is trying to quit/reduce sugar.
Knowing there’s one of those no-fail keto dessert recipes waiting for me has made things much easier.
I used to make a sugared version of these, and I wanted to reproduce that taste. But making keto desserts requires some experimenting and testing.
It takes a few specialty ingredients, but I tend to use those ingredients like Swerve and Sugar-Free Chocolate chips for other Keto Desserts so I am okay with stocking up on them or making extras from some of my other recipes.
These ended up turning out so good that they became a favorite of my readers !

What Can You Eat For Dessert On The Keto Diet?
If you’re new to a low carb lifestyle, you may be under the assumption that keto and desserts might not go hand in hand. You’re only partially correct. While traditional sugar-filled desserts aren’t keto-friendly, there are plenty of keto dessert options to choose from.
If you’re looking for some great keto dessert alternatives, check out my list of The Best Keto Desserts .
Which Chocolates Are Keto Friendly?
Anyone who is craving or wanting to make a keto dessert is probably wondering what chocolates they can use that are keto safe. Here are some of my favorite low carb chocolate options to cook with or snack on (while I’m waiting for these keto peanut butter cups to chill):
- Lily’s Chocolate Chips
- Homemade Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips
- ChocZero Chocolate Chips
- Viva Cacao Nibs
Is Peanut Butter Bad For Keto?
Keto isn’t so much about what you eat, but more about hitting specific nutritional targets. And since you’re trying to hit a higher fat intake while keeping your carb count low, peanut butter (depending on which brand you reach for and the sugar content) is actually perfect for those of us living a keto lifestyle.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 3/4 Cup Superfine Almond Flour
- 2 ounces Butter
- 1/4 Cup Swerve
- 1/2 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 Cup Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips
Equipment Needed For These Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars
As much as I love my kitchen gadgets, nothing fancy is needed to make these low carb desserts!
- I did use a pastry cutter , but you can also use two knives to cut the ingredients in if you prefer. The pastry cutter does make it easier and you can use it for other recipes as well.
- I also like to make these in an 8-inch pan , but it’s a lot easier if you line it with parchment paper if you do. Comes out very easily that way.
How to Make Peanut Butter Bars
Unlike some other low-carb sweet treats, you’ll only need to follow three easy steps for a tasty dessert or snack.
- Mix butter, peanut butter, and Swerve with the almond flour and pat out.
- Melt chocolate chips and pour on top.
- DO NOT RUSH THIS. Let it solidify in the fridge and let the tastes marry. If you eat it too soon, it will taste like artificial sugar. Let the tastes meld together and it will be so tasty. This is true for most keto desserts. You need to let them chill for a bit.

If you love these keto peanut butter bars and are looking for other ketosis desserts or low carb cupcakes , here are some other options:

Tips And Tricks
- Be flexible. Not everything is going to taste IDENTICAL to your favorite sweet treat, but it will still be satisfying.
- Don’t pinch pennies. The ingredients you need to make low carb desserts can be expensive, but they will last forever with how little you use to keep your sweet tooth satisfied.
- Make ahead. To stay successful in your low carb lifestyle, always keep something within reach so you’re not tempted to grab something high in carbs on a whim.
- Enjoy! As long as your favorite low carb dessert fits in your daily macros, there’s no need to feel guilty. Grab a bite (or two!) and enjoy your journey!
- Hide them. I’m just kidding. Sort of. Keto desserts made the right way will be so yummy, your whole family will be fighting for a bite.
Variations
When it comes to low carb chocolate peanut butter bars, the beauty lies in how versatile they can be, making it easy to customize flavors and textures to fit your taste and pantry staples. Here are some fun variations to try:
- Crunchy Nut Twist - Swap creamy peanut butter for crunchy, or mix in chopped nuts like almonds, pecans, or walnuts for added texture.
- Coconut Layer - Add unsweetened shredded coconut into the base or sprinkle on top of the chocolate for a keto-friendly “Mounds bar” vibe.
- Protein Boost - Stir in a scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder to the peanut butter mixture for extra nutrition and a firmer bite.
How Long Do Low Carb Peanut Butter Bars Last?
The amount of time a low carb dessert lasts completely depends on what dessert you’re making.
These No Bake Peanut Butter Bars will last up to a week if they are kept in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.
Can You Freeze Them?
Yes, you can freeze keto chocolate peanut butter bars, and they actually freeze quite well! They’re sturdy enough to hold up in the freezer without losing texture.
To thaw, move a bar to the fridge for a few hours or let it sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes before eating. Many people even enjoy them straight from the freezer since they’re firm but still delicious.
If your no-bake peanut butter chocolate bars didn’t set, the usual culprits are too much fat/liquid (especially from natural peanut butter that’s extra oily), not enough structure (too little almond flour or other dry binder in a keto peanut butter chocolate bars base), or simply not enough chill time. Warm kitchens and a thick chocolate layer can also stay soft if the bars weren’t refrigerated long enough. To fix it, press the base firmly, chill longer (or freeze briefly), and next time use well-stirred but not overly runny peanut butter and measure dry ingredients accurately so the peanut butter chocolate bar layers firm up cleanly.
Most no-bake peanut butter chocolate bars need at least 1–2 hours in the fridge to fully set, and 30–45 minutes in the freezer if you need them faster. Chill time varies with how warm your kitchen is, how thick the layers are, and whether you used natural peanut butter (which can stay softer), so the real cue is texture. They should feel firm to the touch and slice cleanly without the base squishing.
Yes, you can use natural peanut butter for no-bake peanut butter chocolate bars, but it can make the base too runny if it’s very oily or warm. For best results, stir the jar extremely well, use peanut butter that’s a bit thicker (not pourable), and if the mixture still feels loose, add a little more almond flour to firm it up before pressing into the pan. Plan on a longer chill time, and keep the bars refrigerated so the layers stay set.
You can swap almond flour for coconut flour in some keto peanut butter chocolate bars, but it isn’t a 1:1 swap because coconut flour is much more absorbent. If you replace almond flour with coconut flour, start with about ¼ to ⅓ as much coconut flour, then mix and adjust. Your goal is a base that holds together like soft cookie dough, not powdery or wet. Add coconut flour in small pinches so your no-bake peanut butter bars don’t turn dry and crumbly, and be ready for a slightly different flavor and a firmer set.
