Mascarpone is a pretty common ingredient however, you may still be unfamiliar with what it is.
Mascarpone is a type of cheese that’s used much in the way that ricotta is.
It’s made with whole cream tartaric acid to thicken it. It’s delicious and creamy and pairs well with pasta dishes which is why it’s perfect in this Mascarpone Mushroom Pasta recipe.
What Can I substitute for Mascarpone Cheese?
Although it won’t taste exactly the same, you can also try to use Ricotta cheese as a substitute for Mascarpone cheese in this recipe.
Is This Really An Air Fryer Pasta Recipe?
Many of my air fryer recipes are made by just putting everything in the air fryer. However, with this dish, that’s not the case.
Yes, you do have to make the pasta separately, but the sauce is so hands off that it practically cooks itself, so you still bought yourself some extra time!
Despite having one little extra step to add on outside the use of the air fryer, this is still one of my quicker dinner dishes.
The combination of earthy mushrooms with the creamy pasta just makes for a wonderful blend of flavors in this Mascarpone Mushroom Pasta.
One thing that I love about pasta is that it’s easy to get a version that’s egg-free and allergy-friendly altogether. This makes it a healthier option as well as vegetarian-friendly. Not to mention, it’s a dish that won’t leave you feeling hungry even though there’s no meat.
What Kind Of Low Carb Pasta Can I Use?
So of course, the way to make this a keto recipe is to switch out the pasta. Here are a few options:
- Use Carbanana noodles . They are more low carb than keto, but there’s closer to real noodles than anything else I’ve tasted.
- Use soybean noodles, if you eat soy.
- Use Shirataki noodles .
- Pour over cauliflower rice .
- Serve with this cauliflower “mac” and cheese recipe .
How To Make Mushroom Pasta
- Grease a 7 x 3 inch pan and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine mushrooms onion, garlic, cream, cheese, thyme, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Pour into greased pan.
- Set air fryer to 350°F for 15 minutes. Halfway through, open and stir the mixture well.
- Meanwhile, boil 4 cups of pasta until al dente. Divide across four bowls.
- Remove the mushrooms and mascarpone mixture and divide evenly on the pasta. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top and serve.

- ▢ 8 ounces ( 226.8 g ) Mascarpone Cheese , diced
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Dried Thyme
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Ground Black Pepper
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Kosher Salt

If it’s one thing I could eat every day and never blink at the amount I’ve eaten, it’s dip. I’m sure I can’t be the only one that gets on a roll while eating dip and then realizes I’ve eaten the entire bowl. One of my favorite dips to make is this Lebanese Muhammara recipe. It’s a delicious hot pepper dip that’s bursting with flavor and, let me tell you, addicting as can be.

What Makes This Muhammara Recipe So Great?

- Easy. Roast the peppers and walnuts in your air fryer then toss all of the ingredients in a food processor .
- Keto . This Lebanese Muhammara recipe is low carb which makes it a perfect snack for most diets.

Can you believe I made this in the air fryer ? It’s honestly crazy all the various types of recipes I can make with that thing. It turned out perfectly.
In fact, an air fryer is actually perfect for making this Muhammara recipe because it relies on roasted peppers for its base. An air fryer is an absolutely amazing, and relatively mess-free way to roast vegetables.
How Do You Say Muhammara?
If you’re not familiar with this recipe, you might be just as perplexed about how to say it as you are about what is in it.
Since your guests will without a doubt ask what this delicious new dip is, do yourself a favor and learn how to say it correctly. It is loosely pronounced:
“mmmhamara”
The ‘U’ in the word isn’t pronounced. It begins with the “mmm” sound, just like the sound you’ll be making when you try it.
What Is Muhammara?
I’m sure many of you are unfamiliar with the word muhammara since it’s not a common food term in the United States. Muhammara simply means “reddened.”
As you can see, the color of the Lebanese Muhammara is a reddish color, so this term makes sense with this recipe. Muhammara can also be spelled without the “u” and mean the same thing.
This word is commonly used for the popular red, hot pepper dip found in Syria, Turkey, and surrounding countries. In Turkey, this same dish is often referred to as “acuka.”
Where Did Muhammara Originate?
So although I call it Lebanese in this recipe, at its broadest, it’s a Levantine preparation.
It’s just that it’s not really easy to title a recipe “Lebanese, Syrian, Turkish and other surrounding countries Muhammara “.
This dip, or sauce, has been popular for many years in the aforementioned countries and is used in many dishes.
How Do You Make Muhammara Dip?
- Spray the red peppers with oil and place directly in the air fryer basket.
- Cook in the air fryer for 10 minutes.
- At the end of the cook time, add the walnuts to the basket around the red peppers. Air fry for 5 minutes.
- Remove the peppers and walnuts. Place peppers into a plastic zip-top bag and let them rest while you get the other ingredients together.
- Place ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and puree until you get a smooth mixture.
- Tip the dip into a bowl and make an indentation in the middle. Pour in the olive oil and garnish with remaining pepper flakes.
What Do You Eat With Muhammara?
One thing I love about this Lebanese Muhammara is how versatile it is. There’s no one “right way” to eat it and it’s great whether you’re living a low carb lifestyle or not. Here are a few serving ideas:
I mainly use it as a dip like you would a chip dip, however, just like salsa, it goes well with other dishes. It can be used for a wide variety of purposes which is why it’s so popular in my house.
- Spread it on low carb crackers
- Dip pork rinds in it
- Scoop it with your favorite veggies
- Load up a pita chip
When I’m eating it as a snack while doing keto , I’m always sure to eat the vegetables with it instead of the pita chips since it makes it an even healthier choice.

Ingredients
- ▢ 2 ( 2 ) Red Bell Pepper
- ▢ 1 cup ( 117 g ) walnuts
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Lemon Juice
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Ground Cumin
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Kosher Salt
- ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Red Pepper Flakes
- ▢ 1/4 cup ( 54 g ) olive oil
Instructions
- Spray the red peppers with oil and place directly in the air fryer basket.
- Set air fryer to 400F for 10 minutes.
- At the end of the cook time, add the walnuts to the basket, around the red peppers. Set air fryer to 400F for 5 minutes.
- Remove the peppers and walnuts. Place peppers into a plastic zip top bag and let them rest while you get the other ingredients together, about 5-10 minutes.
- Place softened peppers, walnuts, lemon juice, salt, cumin, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper flakes in the bowl of a food processor and puree until you get a smooth mixture.
- Tip the dip into a bowl and make an indentation in the middle. Pour in the olive oil and garnish with remaining pepper flakes. Serve with toasted pita chips or raw vegetables like cucumber, carrots, zucchini slices or cauliflower.
