What Is A Korean Taco?

A fusion Korean taco is the best way to enjoy international cuisine in a convenient taco form! It combines culinary traditions and foods from different countries into one delicious dish. In these Korean Tacos, I’m combining the delicious flavors of, you guessed it, Korean food and Mexican food , to make you some of the best tacos you’ve ever had.

Is Gochujang Really Spicy?

Gochujang has got to be one of my favorite things to cook with. I love the spicy, sweet, umami flavors in it. It’s a deliciously fermented red chili paste and is easily one of my favorite condiments .

I don’t think it’s too awfully spicy, but I like my food hot. I’d be lying to you if I said that it didn’t have some kick to it, but the kick is well worth the flavor! The flavor of Gochujang is very pungent and unlike anything else, and I highly recommend that you try it even if you’re not typically a spicy food kind of person. And these Korean Tacos are the perfect way to try Gochujang for the first time!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Gochujang - A Korean chili paste that delivers deep, spicy-sweet flavor with umami richness; the signature element of the dish.
  • Dark Soy Sauce - Adds salty depth, umami, and a touch of caramel-like sweetness.
  • Minced Garlic - Provides savory aroma and bold flavor, balancing the sweetness of the marinade.
  • Minced Ginger - Adds warmth and a zesty, slightly spicy note that complements the beef.
  • Sugar or Other Sweetener - Balances the spice and enhances the caramelization of the beef during cooking.
  • Sesame Oil - Nutty and fragrant, it gives the beef a distinctive Korean flavor.
  • Sesame Seeds - Add a crunchy garnish and nutty undertone to the final dish.
  • Salt - Enhances and balances all the flavors in the marinade and beef.
  • Sirloin Beef - The star protein of the tacos; tender, juicy, and perfect for soaking up the flavorful marinade. Cuts like chuck, ribeye, or sirloin all work well.
  • Onion - Adds sweetness and texture, while cooking alongside the beef to deepen the flavor of the dish.
  • Flour Tortillas - Soft shells that hold the filling, making it a fusion-style Korean-Mexican taco.
  • Green Scallions - Provide sharpness and freshness, balancing the richness of the beef.
  • Kimchi - Fermented and tangy, it adds a traditional Korean kick with probiotics and spice.
  • Cilantro - Offers a fresh, herbal note that brightens the tacos and enhances the fusion flavors.

Why These Will Be Your New Favorite Side Dish

  • Fast. R eady in under 30 minutes .
  • Easy. Peel your potatoes, season them, and pop them in your air fryer.
  • Affordable. A great recipe to help stretch your budget.
  • Family-Friendly. Season them in a way everyone will enjoy!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Potatoes -It’s best to use Russet or Idaho potatoes, but you can use fingerling or red potatoes if that’s what you have in your pantr y.
  • Dill - If you don’t have fresh dill, you can omit it, but it does add a punch of flavor.
  • Salt - Who doesn’t love a salty french fry?
  • Pepper - Freshly cracked peppercorns taste amazing on piping hot potatoes.
  • Vinegar - Just a drizzle to help balance out the starch in the potatoes.

Why Do You Soak Potatoes In Water Before Air Frying?

While this may be a common practice for some styles of potatoes or certain recipes, it’s not necessary for cooking potatoes in your air fryer. It won’t change the flavor to soak them and it won’t make them less starchy.

Can You Cook Frozen Potato Wedges In An Air Fryer?

The fresh-cut option is always better, but some days we have to cut corners to get food on the table for a hungry family.

Not only can you cook frozen potatoes in the air fryer, but you should! The air fryer makes them crispy on the outside while keeping them tender in the center.

How To Cut Potato Wedges

I love to give specific instructions as much as I can, but there’s not a fine art to slicing a potato. They’re never the same shape and they’re rarely the same size.

I Like to cut my potatoes in half and then quarter them. If the pieces still seem extra thick, just cut them in half again.

How To Make Air Fryer Potato Wedges

  1. Thoroughly wash your potatoes to remove any dirt. This is common with root vegetables.
  2. Toss them in your favorite seasoning blend . I prefer a little salt, pepper, and dill.
  3. Throw them in the air fryer with a light spray of oil .
  4. Cook until they’re pillowy soft .
  5. Serve and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • Wash then well. Leaving the skin on your potato wedges gives a crispy bite, You just want to make sure you’ve removed all of the dirt or debris.
  • Salt them. Add some salt before cooking and another pinch when they’re fresh out of the air fryer.
  • Cut them thin. The thinner you cut your potato wedges, the crispier they will be and the faster they will cook.

How Long Does It Take To Air Fry Potatoes?

It may seem like it takes a long time to cook this tasty side dish, but I guarantee it’s worth the wait.

For a perfectly cooked air fryer potato wedge you’ll need about 30 minutes.

How Long Do They Last?

Air Fryer Potato Wedges are great to make ahead of time because they last quite a while after you cook them and they reheat really well.

For the best bite, try to enjoy them within 5 days of preparing them.
