Why These Keto Scones Are So Great

  • Low Carb . Only 3 net carbs per serving.
  • Gluten Free . I substituted all purpose flour for almond flour in this almond flour scones recipe .
  • Fast. Done in only 40 minutes and they store like a dream.
  • Cheap. While almond flour can be more expensive than traditional flour, making these is still cheaper than grabbing breakfast at the coffee shop.
  • Easy. Just mix, bake, and glaze for the perfect keto scones .
  • Delicious. These make the perfect tasty mix between a keto scone and a low carb muffin . You’re going to love them.

We’ve all been there. It’s a weekday morning and you’re waiting in line for a hot cup of coffee to start your day. As you wait for your turn to order you can’t help but stare at the delicious scones taunting you with their high carb content.

But being on a low carb diet you know better, and you leave with only your coffee, wishing you could have left with that scrumptious scone as well.

With my Keto Scones , you don’t have to ever go scone-less again. They’re wonderfully sweet, tangy, and unbelievably low carb.

It can be hard to find a low carb grab-and-go breakfast option. It seems like the only real option is a sugary pastry or doughnut that’s full of carbs when you need a quick breakfast. That’s why I’ve set out to make these delicious Keto Scones every bit as good as the ones you’d get from your local fancy coffee house without all of carbs!

How To Make Keto Scones

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together almond flour, coconut flour, swerve, baking powder and swerve.
  3. Make a well in the dry ingredients.
  4. Add eggs and beat in the well, then pour in heavy whipping cream, melted butter and orange extract.
  5. Stir until smooth.
  6. Stir in slivered almonds.
  7. Place the dough onto the parchment paper on the cookie sheet. Using your hands pat out a round loaf.
  8. Cut into 8 wedges and push the pieces apart a little so they don’t all bake into one big circle.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes until golden. At the end of the cook time, turn off the oven and leave the scones in the oven for another 10-15 minutes.
  10. Make the glaze and drizzle over the top of the keto scones.

Can You Substitute Almond Flour For All Purpose Flour?

Yes. And that’s exactly what I did for this keto scone recipe . There are a couple of things you should know before you choose to use it in any other recipe, though.

  1. It tastes like almonds. No, not like you’re eating a handful of almonds, but it does have a hint of flavor.
  2. The amount of almond flour to all purpose flour ratio isn’t always exactly 1:1. Things such as yeast and egg will impact how much you need for your recipe to turn out as expected.
  3. It’s low carb, not no carb. While it’s absolutely a better choice for a low carb lifestyle, you do still have to eat these tasty almond flour scones that need to be eaten in moderation.

How Do I Get My Scones To Rise And Be Fluffy?

Just as you would in any other traditional baking recipe, you will rely on the baking powder and the egg to help your Keto Scone batter rise.

Do These Almond Flour Scones Actually Taste Like Scones?

I fully acknowledge that these do not LOOK like the scones we typically see.

But guess what? They taste just like them.

I would suggest that you let them cool completely before you try them. Leave them out uncovered, so they dry out a bit as they cool.

Perfect, low carb, keto scones .

Why Is Almond Flour OK On A Keto Diet?

Almond flour is ok on a Keto diet because it is naturally low in carbohydrates. The fat and protein macros tend to fall in line with a traditional low carb lifestyle as well.

Not only is it a great food choice when you’re eating low carb, it also tastes delicious and has a similar texture to all purpose flour.

BUT NOT EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY IS DOING KETO

I get it. It’s hard enough to make one meal let alone two. But here’s the thing. Almost all the recipes in this book just use regular, everyday ingredients like meat, vegetables, and dairy.

A few of the desserts do call for almond flour or coconut flour, and sugar-alternatives. But the rest of the book is just real food.

So I say you should make the food just as written. And then you should not tell anyone it’s keto! Just say, “I’ve made a delicious meal in 30 minutes because I am a Kitchen God/Goddess!” and watch everyone enjoy their food.

Not even kidding. #trustUrvashi

You could accommodate the rest of the diners with adding in some carbs on the side, while just knowing they will like the keto food as is.

Take a look at the dishes included in the book, and tell me it’s not delicious-sounding no matter how you prefer to eat.

It’s dinner. In 30 minutes. You’re welcome.
