Note: Nutritional information is provided as a courtesy and is for each cookie.
Can I Eat A Chocolate Chip Cookie On A Low Carb Diet?
Absolutely. But it has to be my recipe. Don’t go grab just any chocolate chip cookie. That’s sure to throw you out of ketosis. This cookie with sugar-free chocolate chips will cure your cravings without ruining your macros for the day.
How Many Carbs Are In These Keto Cookies?
Three. Yes, these cookies still have 3 carbs each. But if you’re counting net carbs, they only have 2. While that may sound like a lot to you, I promise they’re worth it.
And if you’ve ever NEEDED a chocolate chip cookie while watching what you eat, you know that those 2 carbs are way more reasonable than 9 in a non-keto cookie.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 1.5 cups Superfine Almond Flour - The base of the cookie dough. Almond flour provides structure while keeping the cookies low in carbs and gluten-free. Its fine texture gives the cookies a soft, tender crumb.
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder - The leavening agent that helps the cookies rise slightly, giving them a light, chewy texture instead of being too dense.
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt - Balances the sweetness of the cookie and enhances the flavor of both the chocolate and nuts.
- 1/2 cup Butter - Adds richness, moisture, and flavor. When creamed with sweetener, butter creates air pockets that help the cookies bake up soft and slightly crisp on the edges.
- 1/2 cup Truvia - A low-carb sweetener that replaces sugar, providing sweetness without adding extra carbohydrates. It helps give the cookies that classic sweet flavor while keeping them keto-friendly.
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract - Adds warm, aromatic depth and rounds out the flavors in the dough.
- 1 large Egg - Binds all the ingredients together and contributes to the chewy, cohesive texture of the cookies.
- 1 cup Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips - The star mix-in, providing bursts of chocolatey flavor without the added sugar. They melt slightly during baking, giving a classic chocolate chip cookie feel.
- 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts - Optional, but adds crunch, texture, and a rich nutty flavor that complements the almond flour and chocolate chips perfectly.
Can You Have Almond Flour On Keto?
Yes, you can. I use almond flour in these chocolate chip cookies as a low-carb replacement for traditional flour. It holds up just as well as all-purpose flour and makes for an almost unidentifiable substitution in the finished product. Plus, it only has one net carb per serving (though a serving is fairly small).
Are Lily’s Chocolate Chips Keto?
You’ll be happy to hear that one of the most popular brands of sugar-free chocolate chips on the market is in fact keto!
