How Do You Cook Baked Potatoes In An Instant Pot?
If you’ve ever tried making air fryer baked potatoes or oven baked potatoes, you know how much attention you need to pay to the skin of the potato.
With this recipe, the emphasis is on the fluffy interior of the potato (and let’s be honest, that’s my favorite part anyway).
- Wash potatoes thoroughly
- Place potatoes on a trivet
- Add water to Instant Pot liner
- Cook for 14 minutes under high pressure
- Allow pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes
- Release remaining pressure
- Remove potatoes from the pot and serve with desired toppings
Tips And Tricks For Making Instant Pot Baked Potatoes
This recipe is so incredibly simple, adding tips and tricks seems unnecessary. However, if you’re not used to cooking with your Instant Pot , here are some things you might consider to get the best results:
- Pick potatoes that are consistent in size so they cook evenly.
- Poke the potatoes liberally to keep them from splitting under pressure.
- Always use a trivet to keep the potatoes out of the water. You want tender steamed potatoes, not boiled potatoes.
- Wash them well before cooking so you can enjoy the skin too!
Can You Put Tin Foil In An Instant Pot?
You absolutely can use tin foil or aluminum foil in your Instant Pot . In fact, it’s one of my favorite accessories in a pinch. I often use it as a sling when I do pot in pot cooking or use it to cover cheesecakes when I don’t want any condensation to reach the top.
However, you won’t need to use it for these Instant Pot Baked Potatoes . No need to wrap these potatoes before cooking. They cook up light and fluffy without being wrapped in the Instant Pot .
What Temperature Are Baked Potatoes Done?
If your potatoes reach the full cook time in your Instant Pot and you’re still unsure if they’re done (potato size can vary significantly and time may need to be adjusted) you can use an internal thermometer to check to see if they are cooked completely.
Push your probe thermometer into the thickest part of the potato and measure the internal temperature. If it reaches at least 210F, your potatoes should be ready to serve.

The best thing about these Instant Pot Baked Potatoes is how versatile they are. You can top them with simple ingredients to make them a yummy side dish or you can load them full of veggies and your favorite dairy item to make them a filling vegetarian main course

Turkish Chicken Kebab (Tavuk Şiş) is a Turkish-style chicken kebab made with boneless chicken thighs marinated in full-fat Greek yogurt, garlic, tomato paste, lemon juice, oil, and spices like cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, black pepper, and cayenne. It’s quick and weeknight-friendly and works well for a high-protein, low-carb dinner, especially when you want kebab flavor without firing up the grill. Unlike traditional skewered chicken shish kebabs that need grilling and a bunch of turning, this version uses an easy yogurt marinade and cooks the chicken in the air fryer (no skewers required) for fast, juicy results.

What Is Tavuk Shish?
Tavuk Shish is actually a Turkish Chicken Kabob, but I’m lazy/efficient so I don’t bother to use skewers when I make this in my Air Fryer . Rest assured, this still tastes fantastic, even without the sticks in the middle.
You could serve as little pieces of chicken, or you could “reverse skewer”, as I like to call it, and put it on skewer sticks after it’s been cooked. They look like kebabs, but I don’t have to touch raw chicken long enough to skewer it. Win win!
What Do Turkish Chicken Kabobs Taste Like?
Turkish chicken kabobs have a bold yet balanced flavor that’s both savory and warmly spiced.
The yogurt-based marinade makes the chicken tender and juicy while carrying the flavors of garlic, tomato paste, and lemon throughout. The spice blend of cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and cayenne gives the kabobs a distinctive Middle Eastern character. It’s earthy, smoky, slightly sweet, and with just a touch of heat.
Air frying adds a charred, caramelized edge that enhances the smoky paprika and gives each bite depth.
Altogether, Turkish chicken kabobs taste rich, aromatic, and vibrant, with layers of savory spice, tangy citrus, and subtle warmth that linger on the palate.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- ¼ cup Full-Fat Greek Yogurt - Acts as the base of the marinade, tenderizing the chicken with its natural acidity and adding a creamy texture that helps the spices cling.
- 1 tbsp Minced Garlic - Infuses the marinade with bold, savory depth that complements the warm spices.
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste - Adds richness, tang, and a slight sweetness, while also giving the kabobs their beautiful red hue.
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil - Helps carry the flavors of the marinade into the chicken and keeps it moist during grilling.
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice - Provides acidity that tenderizes the chicken and adds a fresh, zesty brightness to balance the spices.
- 1 tsp Salt - Enhances all the flavors in the marinade and ensures the chicken is seasoned throughout.
- 1 tsp Ground Cumin - Brings an earthy, nutty flavor that forms the backbone of the Turkish spice profile.
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika - Adds smokiness, mild sweetness, and a vibrant color to the marinade.
- ½ tsp Ground Cinnamon - Contributes subtle warmth and sweetness, creating a signature Middle Eastern depth of flavor.
- ½ tsp Ground Black Pepper - Balances the spices with a sharp, earthy bite.
- ½ tsp Cayenne Pepper - Lends gentle heat, which can be adjusted to taste for a spicier kick.
- 1 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs – The star of the kabobs, chicken thighs stay juicy and flavorful when grilled, absorbing all the rich marinade.
How Do You Make A Turkish Chicken Kabob?
- Prep Marinade. In a large bowl, stir together the Greek yogurt , garlic, tomato paste, lemon juice, oil, salt, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until the spices are well-blended into the yogurt.
- Add chicken. Add the chicken pieces and mix until the chicken is well-coated with the marinade. Allow the chicken to marinate for 30 minutes or for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.
- Air Fry. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 370ºF and cook the chicken for 10 minutes.
- Flip and Finish. Open the air fryer and flip over the chicken. Set the air fryer to 370ºF and cook the chicken for another 5 minutes.
- Temp and Serve. Test with a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165ºF before serving.
Tips And Tricks
To make sure your Turkish Chicken Kabobs turn out juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time, keep these helpful tips in mind:
- Marinate Long Enough. Let the chicken sit in the yogurt-based marinade for at least 2 hours, but overnight in the fridge gives the deepest flavor and most tender results.
- Use Chicken Thighs. Thigh meat is juicier and more forgiving than chicken breast, staying tender even if slightly overcooked.
- Cut Even Pieces. Slice the chicken into uniform chunks so they cook evenly on the grill or in the oven.
Variations
One of the best things about Lebanese chicken kabobs is how easy they are to customize with different flavors, proteins, and pairings. Here are some tasty variations to try:
- Protein Swaps - Substitute chicken with lamb, beef, or even shrimp for a different spin on traditional kabobs.
- Vegetarian Option - Use marinated halloumi cheese or hearty vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, or eggplant for a meatless version.
- Citrus Twist - Swap lemon juice for lime or orange juice in the marinade for a fresh citrusy variation.
- Nutty Touch - Sprinkle finished kabobs with toasted pine nuts or sesame seeds for texture and depth.
How Long Do You Need To Marinate Chicken Kabobs?
The marinade can technically be done in thirty minutes, but it can be left up to 24 hours for a full flavor infusion. The easiest way to do would be to put it in the night before and let it marinate overnight.
The spice combination in this dish is incredible, and you will want to taste every bit of it!
What To Serve With Turkish Chicken
So typically, you’d eat this Turkish Chicken Kebab in a sandwich or with rice. This differs a little by region and personal preference. I like to serve it with tzatziki and/or hummus and I’ve started using Joseph’s pita bread which is both low carb and delicious.
How Long Do They Last?
Turkish chicken kabobs keep well for a few days, making them a great option for meal prep or leftovers.
Once cooked, they should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where they will last for about 3 to 4 days. The yogurt-based marinade helps keep the chicken moist, so the flavor holds up nicely even after reheating.
Can You Freeze Them?
If you’d like to store them longer, you can freeze the cooked kabobs for up to 2 to 3 months.
To enjoy again, thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat gently in the oven or air fryer to restore their juiciness and charred edges.

For Turkish chicken kebabs (tavuk şiş), marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours for good flavor, and 4–8 hours is the sweet spot for a classic yogurt-based Turkish chicken marinade that keeps the meat juicy. You can go overnight, but if the marinade is very acidic, very long marinating can start to make the texture a bit soft or “mushy,” especially with chicken breast. Thighs are more forgiving.
Your Turkish chicken kebabs (tavuk şiş) are usually dry because the pieces were overcooked or cut too small/uneven, or because chicken breast was used and cooked like thighs. A yogurt-based Turkish chicken marinade helps, but it can’t save chicken that’s cooked too long; for the juiciest result, use chicken thighs, keep chunks uniform, and don’t let them cook too long “just to be sure.”
Yes, you can use chicken breast for Turkish chicken kebabs (tavuk şiş), but it’s less forgiving than thighs, so it needs a little extra care to stay juicy. Cut the breast into even, slightly larger chunks, marinate for 2–8 hours in a yogurt-based Turkish chicken marinade, then cook hot and fast and pull it as soon as it’s done (overcooking is what makes Turkish chicken dry). If you want the most reliably tender kebab, chicken thighs are still the top choice.
The difference between chicken shish and chicken döner is mainly the cut and cooking style. Chicken shish (tavuk şiş) is marinated chunks of chicken optionally skewered and cooked like kebabs. Chicken döner is thinly sliced, heavily seasoned chicken cooked in stacked layers (traditionally on a vertical rotisserie) and shaved off for wraps and plates. Both use classic Turkish chicken seasoning flavors, but shish is all about juicy grilled cubes, and döner is about those thin, browned, sliceable layers.
