  • Fast. Has a cook time of under 30 minutes .
  • Easy. A simple pour and cook recipe .
  • Vegetarian. A great dessert to pair with your favorite Vegetarian main course.
  • Delicious. Something the whole family will love.

German Apple Pancake batter is light and fluffy and it all comes together with ease while still looking and tasting quite complex. Eat this for a decadent breakfast, a light lunch, or just because.

This recipe is somewhat in between a traditional dutch baby, a pancake, and a cake. Which are three delicious things that you can make in any case. The final texture is a little thicker than a pancake but lighter than a cake.

What are German Apple Pancakes Made Of?

German Apple Pancakes are also referred to as Dutch Baby Pancakes. They are a large popover pancake batter that most people bake in a cast-iron skillet. The batter puffs up in the oven as it bakes, and then the cooked batter falls as it cools down. This happens when you take the German Apple Pancake out of the oven and the cool air from your kitchen hits it. Think of it somewhere between a crepe and french toast.

And delicious.

You will need flour, sugar, vanilla, milk, and of course, butter to get this batter started. Warming spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg make this German Apple Pancake comforting and leave your family counting down the days until you make it again.

Benefits of Making Pancakes in the Air Fryer

Time and ease. Dutch baby pancakes usually take about 45 minutes to bake in the oven, and that doesn’t include the preparing of the apples. If I have the opportunity to make a delicious breakfast in half that time, then you know that I am going to do just that. And, I don’t have to preheat my oven, or heat the entire house as it cooks.

It is important to note that you must let the batter rest for 30 minutes. This gives the flour a chance to absorb all the liquid in the batter and will allow your German Apple Pancake to cook properly.

Toppings for German Apple Pancakes

Ice Cream. Are there even any others?

Just kidding. There are so many delicious things that would be great on top of these German Apple Pancakes . Here are a few of my favorite ideas:

  • Plain whipped cream. With all of the flavor this has, ice cream often feels like gilding the lily–which is not a bad thing for a special occasion.
  • Your favorite fruits. Use whatever fruits are in season to lighten up this recipe.
  • Syrup. I know it sounds like it’ll be too much. And for some people, it just may be. But there’s nothing more decadent than a drizzle of maple syrup over the top of a pancake.

Tips And Tricks For Making A German Apple Pancake

  • Eat these right away, as they do not reheat well. Place the pancakes into the air fryer just as you sit down to dinner so that when you’re done eating, your German Apple Pancake is ready to eat.
  • Slice your apples thin. This way they cook into your batter for a creamy texture without too much of a bite.
  • Try them without the fruit! Make these Dutch Babies in the oven for a blank canvas for your favorite filling.

This Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip is a deliciously filling casserole with just the right amount of kick. It’s the perfect weeknight keto casserole that takes little effort to make.

Buffalo Chicken Casserole - 21

What Makes This Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip So Fantastic

  • Low Carb . Only 4 carbs per serving.
  • Quick. Made in less than 30 minutes (it only takes me 15).
  • Easy. Mis the ingredients together and bake.
  • Gluten Free . A great appetizer or dip for anyone with a gluten allergy.
  • A Crowd Favorite. Who doesn’t love Buffalo Chicken Dip? Make it for any movie night, to watch the big game, or to smear on a low carb tortilla or flatout wrap .

This Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip has all the various components of buffalo wings–except in one neat, non-messy but equally delicious package. So really, it’s #ruthlessefficiency at it’s best!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this about me yet, but I tend to like my food spicy. I have a tendency to add a little extra spice to most everything I eat.

In my opinion, there are few things as satisfying at the end of a long day as something hot and spicy.

But that’s just it. Who really wants to cook something after a long, tiring day? That’s exactly why I love this Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip .

How Spicy Is It?

This dish has just the right amount of heat while still being a very simple and quick dish to make. You get that tangy spice of the wing sauce, the savory, protein-rich bite of the chicken and the delightful crisp of the chopped green onions in every bite, and it’s oh-so-satisfying!

Of course, the fact that it’s homemade means that YOU get to choose how spicy it is.

All of the heat in this dish comes from the buffalo sauce so either choose a less spicy version or add more of it.

But that’s not the only reason I’m a huge fan of this Buffalo Chicken Casserole . Not only is it delicious, but it’s keto-friendly . You won’t find any cream of anything soup in this casserole.

Here’s the thing though. All it is, is delicious. So if you eat low carb ? Enjoy. If the rest of the family doesn’t? Serve it with some chips.

Do you know what else I love about this Low Carb Casserole? It’s a great way to use up a rotisserie chicken , or any cooked chicken you may have.

Few things make me happy as a delicious meal that’s low carb and guilt-free.

Is Buffalo Sauce Ok On Keto?

Most buffalo sauces or hot sauces are vinegar-based and more focused on being spicy than sweet like other condiments. So, a majority of them are great for keto dishes.

However, not all buffalo sauces are created equal. Not all of them are ok to have while you’re living a low carb lifestyle. Make sure you read the ingredients lists and the nutrition facts before you grab a bottle to add to this Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip .

Here are a few brands that are low carb friendly:

  • Tabasco
  • Frank’s Red Hot
  • Primal Kitchen Hot Sauce
  • Truff (this has a slightly different flavor profile than traditional hot sauces, but would make a nice addition to this dip)

What Do You Put In Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip?

  • 4 cups Shredded Rotisserie Chicken - Provides the hearty, protein-packed base of the dip. Rotisserie chicken adds convenience, tenderness, and built-in savory flavor.
  • ½ cup Chopped Onion - Adds mild sweetness, aroma, and a little texture that balances the creamy elements.
  • ¼ cup Cream - Creates a smooth, rich consistency and helps the cheeses melt into a cohesive, scoopable dip.
  • ¼ cup Hot Wing Sauce - Delivers the signature buffalo flavor. It’s tangy, spicy, and bold. It ties the entire dip together.
  • ¼ cup Crumbled Blue Cheese - Adds classic buffalo-style tang and sharpness. It deepens the flavor and complements the wing sauce perfectly.
  • 2 ounces Cream Cheese - The key to creaminess. Cream cheese melts into a thick, velvety base that keeps the dip rich and keto-friendly.
  • Pepper - Provides a simple layer of seasoning and boosts the overall flavor without adding carbs.
  • ¼ cup Chopped Green Scallions - Finishes the dip with freshness, color, and a mild onion bite that brightens the richness.

Don’t like blue cheese? That’s totally fine. Just switch it out with a little mozzarella, some low carb ranch dressing or omit it completely. It may change the macros just a tad, but it will still be delicious.

Tips And Tricks

When you want a dip that’s rich, low-carb, and bursting with buffalo-style flavor, a few simple techniques can take your keto buffalo chicken dip from good to absolutely legendary. Here’s how to make sure every batch is creamy, melty, and perfectly balanced.

  • This dish works great as both a main course and as an appetizer ! It serves 4 as a main course and 8 as an appetizer.
  • This is a great way to use up a rotisserie chicken.
  • You can also mix this up and cook portions of it in the microwave as you’re getting ready to eat it. That way, you have an easy meal, ready to go.
  • If you plan to freeze it, I suggest you make up serving size portions of it, and plan to stir well from time to time, as it is cooking.
  • You can serve this as a dip with either chips or celery. It’s a thick dip so use a hefty chip for this.
  • I love to use leftovers to make low carb or regular quesadillas. Just sandwich it between a tortilla, sprinkle a little more cheese, and grill away.

Variations

Buffalo chicken dip is endlessly adaptable, so once you’ve mastered the classic version, it’s easy to switch things up based on your taste, your guests, or what you already have in the kitchen. Try one of these delicious variations to make your dip uniquely yours:

  • Milder Buffalo Dip - Use less wing sauce and increase cream or cream cheese for a gentler heat level.
  • Spicy Jalapeño Buffalo Dip - Mix in 2–3 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapeños or one fresh jalapeño for extra kick.
  • Bacon Buffalo Dip - Fold in ¼–½ cup crispy crumbled bacon. it’s seriously addictive and still fully keto.

What To Eat With Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip

Keto buffalo chicken dip is creamy, spicy, and packed with protein, so pairing it with the right dippers and sides makes it even more satisfying. Whether you’re serving it for game day, parties, or as a fun weeknight appetizer, these keto-friendly options keep it flavorful and low carb:

  • Celery Sticks - The classic choice. Crisp, cool, and refreshing. They’re perfect contrast to the heat.
  • Cucumber Slices - Mild, crunchy, and sturdy enough for scooping.
  • Bell Pepper Strips - Sweet, colorful, and great for balancing the heat of the dip.
  • Radishes - Peppery and firm; surprisingly delicious with buffalo flavors.

How Long Does It Last?

Honestly, never long at all! If I have a gathering or make it for a dinner of more than 4 people, I never have leftovers!

If you are cooking for a smaller crowd, expect this amazing spicy buffalo casserole to last for 3-4 days before the dairy and meat begin to separate and create for a less than delicious bite.

Can You Freeze It?

To freeze it, let the dip cool completely, then transfer it to an airtight container or freezer-safe bag, pressing out as much air as possible. It will keep for about 2–3 months without losing much quality.

When you’re ready to enjoy it again, thaw it overnight in the refrigerator and reheat gently on the stovetop, in the microwave, or in the oven.
