Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Pre-cooked or raw shrimp with tails on - You’ll want to make sure this is defrosted before getting started.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream - This is the stuff that comes in dairy packages that resemble milk cartons, not Cool Whip.
  • Cajun Seasoning - The flavor is best, and totally low carb if you make my version of Cajun Seasoning, but if you choose to use storebought, make sure you check the nutrition labels before getting started. They can be high in carbohydrates.

Is Shrimp OK For Keto?

Not only is shrimp ok on keto, but it’s also wonderful for staying within your carb limitations. Cooked shrimp contain about 0.2 carbs per serving, so you can easily indulge (just don’t overindulge) and still stay within your daily macros.

How To Make Keto Shrimp

Three ingredients and three steps. This is absolutely my kind of meal prep. Here are a few simple instructions to follow for an amazing seafood dinner:

  1. In a saucepan, mix the cajun seasoning and the water together to make a paste.
  2. Pour in the heavy whipping cream and cook gently until the paste is well mixed in and the sauce is creamy and thick. Don’t rush this, let the sauce get thick so that it will coat your tongue in spicy creamy goodness with every bite.
  3. Pour in your cooked or raw shrimp and let either heat through or cook through completely depending on the variety of frozen shrimp you decide to use.

Tips and Tricks

  • Keep it simple. I can be terrible at following a recipe exactly, and I’m not alone. I promise you that even though this recipe only has three ingredients, it is still packed with flavor. Before you try adding anything else to it, try the recipe as written.
  • Don’t overcook. If you’re new to cooking shrimp, trying to cook it perfectly can be difficult. If you’re unsure of your cooking abilities with seafood, I would suggest using precooked shrimp and simply warming it for this recipe so that it isn’t over or undercooked.
  • Add the heavy cream slowly. To prevent curdling or separation in your sauce, add it slowly to the paste made from the cajun seasoning and water. You want a smooth and creamy sauce, not a chunky mess.

What To Serve With Spicy Shrimp

If you’re living a low carb lifestyle, you may have noticed that your appetite has decreased tremendously. For this reason, I generally do not serve anything alongside this keto shrimp dish.

How Long Does It Last?

Unlike some of my recipes, this one isn’t the best for meal prep. While you can easily reheat it and the flavor will still be incredibly delicious, the texture of the shrimp will change.

If you’re ok with the texture of your shrimp being a little less than perfect, you can store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

To reheat, just pop the keto shrimp and sauce in the microwave or a skillet for a few minutes until it is warmed through.

Nothing beats not having to go shopping for an extensive list of ingredients just to make dinner for the night. This Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole is one of those recipes that you’ll want to put into regular rotation when planning your dinners for the week.

As you probably already know, I’m a huge fan of recipes that take minimal prepping to make. This Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole is so simple that you could probably have your kids make it for dinner (if you trust them with the oven, of course).

But trust me, don’t let the simplicity of the dish fool you. This dish is absolutely delicious.

And absolutely do NOT skip the ground nutmeg. #TrustUrvashi. That one ingredient will make all the difference.

Can I Use Rotisserie Chicken For This Recipe?

That’s actually exactly what I did.

I bought the ham, the chicken, and the swiss cheese all at the deli, and voila! Dinner.

So use leftover chicken, use rotisserie chicken, poach chicken from scratch–it will work either way. I also use this method when I make my Reuben Casserole . It’s an easy Keto dinner option that has all the flavor of a tasty Reuben , and none of the carbs.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Diced cooked chicken
  • Diced Ham
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Ground Nutmeg
  • Half and Half
  • Swiss cheese

How To Make Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole

  1. In a large bowl, toss together chicken, ham, pepper, nutmeg and half and half.

  2. Spray an 8x8 baking pan.

  1. Place the half the chicken and ham mixture into the pan. Layer with 2-3 slices of swiss cheese.

  2. Top with remaining chicken and ham. Place the remaining slices of swiss cheese on top.

  3. Place the pan in the oven. Set to 400°F for 25 minutes.

Can I Freeze This Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole?

Absolutely.

That’s another great thing about this recipe is that it freezes very well , which is perfect if you’re the meal planning type or if you have leftovers.

And believe it or not, I’d have to say that it actually tastes better the next day. But don’t take my word for it. Try it for yourself and see.

  • ▢ 3 cups ( 162.72 g ) diced cooked chicken
  • ▢ 1.5 cups ( 171 g ) Diced Ham
  • ▢ 1 teaspoon ( 1 teaspoon ) Ground Black Pepper
  • ▢ 1/2 teaspoon ( 0.5 teaspoon ) Ground Nutmeg
  • ▢ 3/4 cup ( 181.5 g ) Half and Half
  • ▢ 8 slices ( 8 slices ) swiss cheese

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, toss together chicken, ham, pepper, nutmeg and half and half.
