How To Make Carne Picada

  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the thinly sliced or chopped beef to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides.

  9. Serve the carne picada as a filling for tacos, burritos, or with rice and beans.

Tips And Tricks

  • Use a hot skillet. A hot skillet will help you brown the beef quickly and develop a rich flavor. Be sure to preheat the skillet over medium-high heat before adding the beef.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet. If you add too much beef to the skillet at once, it will release too much liquid and steam instead of browning. Cook the beef in batches if necessary, and don’t overcrowd the skillet.
  • Season the beef generously . Don’t be afraid to season the beef with plenty of spices and salt. This will help bring out the natural flavors of the beef and create a delicious broth.

Variations

  • Use chicken. Instead of using beef, use thinly sliced or chopped chicken breast or thighs. You can follow the same recipe, but adjust the cooking time as needed.
  • Pick pork. Use thinly sliced or chopped pork tenderloin or pork shoulder instead of beef. You can also add diced pineapple for a sweet and savory flavor.
  • Make it vegetarian. Replace the beef with sliced or chopped portobello mushrooms, zucchini, or eggplant. You can also use vegetable broth instead of beef broth.
  • Serve up Picadillo. A variations that includes ground beef, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes. It is usually served with rice and beans.
  • Turn it into tacos. Use the beef as a filling for tacos, and top with your favorite toppings like guacamole, salsa, and shredded cheese.
  • Serve it in a bowl. Serve it over rice and beans, and top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and cheese.

What To Serve With It

There are many delicious sides and accompaniments that you can serve with carne picada.

Here are a few of my favorite things to serve alongside it:

  • Rice and beans - It is often served with rice and beans, which are the perfect side dishes to soak up the delicious broth.
  • Tortillas - You can serve it with warm tortillas, which can be used to make tacos or simply used to scoop up the beef and broth.
  • Guacamole and salsa - Fresh guacamole and salsa are perfect toppings for this seasoned beef, adding a burst of flavor and freshness.
  • Salad - A fresh salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, and avocado is a great way to balance out the richness.
  • Grilled vegetables - Grilled vegetables such as bell peppers, zucchini, and onions make a great side dish, adding some color and texture to the plate.
  • Queso fundido - Adding some crumbled queso fresco or shredded cheese on top of the beef can add some creaminess and flavor to the dish.

How Long Does It Last?

Carne picada can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

To extend its shelf life, you can also freeze it for up to 3 months. Check out my tips and tricks for freezing below!

Can You Freeze It?

When freezing, it is best to freeze it in portion sizes to make it easier to thaw and reheat.

To thaw, simply move the cooked beef from the freezer to the refrigerator and let it thaw overnight. You can reheat it on the stovetop, in the microwave, or in the oven, depending on your preference.

Make your very own Mexican Corn Eloté right at home with minimal effort! It’s sweet, savory and you’ll want to eat up every bit of it. And thanks to your air fryer it’s an absolute breeze to make!

Corn Eloté - 22

Why Should You Make Elote En Vaso?

  • Easy - Made in your air fryer .
  • Fast - Ready in under 30 minutes .
  • Delicious - packed with creamy and flavorful seasonings.
  • Authentic. Tastes just like your favorite Mexican street food.
  • Portable - Much cleaner than eating traditional elote .

What is Mexican Corn Eloté?

Eloté is popular Mexican street food. It’s basically just corn on the cob that has been grilled or boiled, and slathered with a delightful sauce, various seasonings, and cheese. It’s quite simple yet incredibly delectable.

Though traditional Mexican Corn Eloté is typically served on the cob and grilled, I decided to simplify the dish by using frozen corn and by cooking it in the air fryer.

Using frozen corn saves time and effort while cooking it in the air fryer saves you from having to fire up the grill. Not to mention the air fryer gives you a similar texture to grilling the corn.

What Is the Difference Between Elotes and Esquites?

Elote

Elote is full ears of corn coated with traditional delicious toppings. This is an amazing Mexican street food that is as fun to eat as it is delicious.

Esquites

Esquites is an easier to eat, but still delicious take on elote. It is also known as Mexican corn in a cup or elote in a cup.

What Is Elote Made Of?

  • Frozen Corn
  • (2 tablespoons) Butter
  • Sour cream
  • mayonnaise
  • shredded parmesan cheese , or feta cheese, cotija cheese or queso fresco
  • Lemon Juice
  • Mexican Chili Powder
  • Cooking Oil Spray

How To Make Mexican Corn In A Cup

  1. Put corn directly in air fryer basket or in a heatproof pan if your air fryer has large holes in the tray.
  2. Place frozen corn in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Spray with oil.
  3. Cook in the air fryer for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix in sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded cheese, lemon juice, and chili powder, and serve.

How Do You Eat Elote?

Just dig in. When it comes to eating this Mexican corn , there really aren’t many rules. If you eat it on the cob, make sure you have a napkin (or three).

If you choose to eat Mexican corn in a cup , mix it up well and make sure you get some of the creamy goodness from the butter and mayo in every bite.

How Do I Make Elote Without An Air Fryer?

No air fryer, no problem. You can get the same flavors by boiling the corn to cook it. It won’t have the same crisp bite as the air fryer version, but it will taste just as delicious.

Haven’t eaten it before? If you’ve never had it, Mexican Corn Eloté can sound quite odd. But I assure you, it is absolutely to die for. Just cook up a batch next taco Tuesday or cook some up as a delicious vegetarian friendly snack and see for yourself!
