Can I Cook Frozen Broccoli In The Air Fryer?

You can use either fresh or frozen for this Sesame Ginger Broccoli recipe. Frozen broccoli is more convenient. It is already chopped up for you, so as it cooks it will result in a more steamed broccoli texture. Use whatever broccoli is your favorite! Both are delicious in this recipe.

What Is Potato Casserole Made Of?

  • Potatoes
  • Cooked ham
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • Parsley

How To Make Potato Casserole

  1. Prepare the Potatoes. Peel the potatoes and dice them into small pieces. Place the potatoes in a large bowl of cold water to prevent them from turning brown.
  2. Layer the Casserole. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, milk, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Add the diced potatoes, diced ham, and shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl. Gently toss everything together until the potatoes and ham are coated with the creamy mixture.
  3. Air Fry the Casserole. Preheat your air fryer to 375F. Transfer the potato mixture into a greased baking dish that fits inside the air fryer basket. Spread it out evenly. Place the baking dish in the preheated air fryer and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on top.
  4. Garnish and Serve. Once the casserole is cooked, remove it from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for a vibrant touch of color and freshness.

Tips And Tricks

  • Choose the right potatoes. Opt for starchy or all-purpose potatoes like Russet or Yukon Gold, as they have a higher starch content, resulting in a creamier texture. Avoid waxy potatoes like red or fingerling potatoes, as they tend to hold their shape and may not break down as well.
  • Adjust cooking time and temperature. The cooking time and temperature in the air fryer may vary depending on the model. Start by preheating the air fryer to around 375F. Cook the casserole for about 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness and adjusting the time as needed. The potatoes should be tender, and the top should be golden brown and crispy.
  • Allow for resting time. After the cooking cycle is complete, remove the casserole from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and makes it easier to cut and serve.

With these tips and tricks, you’ll be well on your way to creating a delicious potato and ham casserole in the air fryer. Enjoy the comforting flavors and crispy textures of this dish with minimal hassle and cleanup.

Variations

Potato and ham casserole is a versatile dish that can be customized with various ingredients and flavors. Here are a few variations you can try:

  • Cheesy Bacon Potato Casserole - Add cooked and crumbled bacon along with the ham for an extra savory and smoky flavor. Layer shredded cheddar cheese between the potato slices and sprinkle some on top for a cheesy and indulgent twist.
  • Vegetable Medley Casserole - Incorporate a variety of vegetables to make the casserole more nutritious and colorful. You can add sliced bell peppers, diced onions, chopped broccoli, or even spinach. Sauté the vegetables before layering them with potatoes and ham.
  • Spicy Potato Casserole - For those who enjoy some heat, add chopped jalapeños or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper to the casserole. You can also swap out the cheddar cheese for pepper jack.

What Goes With Cheesy Potatoes?

Potato casserole with ham is a hearty and flavorful dish that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with sides. Here are a few suggestions for what you can serve alongside it:

  • Green Salad - A refreshing green salad with crisp lettuce, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and a tangy vinaigrette can provide a contrasting freshness to the rich flavors of the casserole.
  • Steamed Vegetables - Steamed vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or green beans add color, texture, and nutritional value to the meal. They also help balance out the richness of the casserole.
  • Roasted Vegetables - Roasting vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, or asparagus brings out their natural sweetness and enhances their flavors. The roasted vegetables can serve as a flavorful and colorful accompaniment to the casserole.

How Long Does It Last?

Potato casserole with ham can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days when properly stored in an airtight container.

It’s important to cool the casserole completely before refrigerating it. To reheat, you can use the microwave or oven until heated through.

Can You Freeze It?

Yes, you can freeze potato casserole with ham. The texture of the potatoes may change slightly after freezing and thawing, becoming a bit softer. However, the flavor should still be delicious.

For the best quality, it’s recommended to consume the frozen potato casserole within 2-3 months.
